In 1768 Catherine II of Russia acquired Sir Robert Walpole’s collection from James Christie. The transaction inspired James to start the Auction House. The leading company on the international art market, Christie’s remains popular with Russian collectors and art lovers.
Since 2011 the WONDERLOFT agency has been providing organizational support to the Auction House’s Russian department, showing particular interest to projects of Christie’s, including upper class cocktail parties held to celebrate openings of pre-sale exhibitions displaying top items from upcoming auctions or private sessions with experts of the House.
Every Christie's event most certainly becomes an important social occasion in Moscow’s world of fine and applied art and jewellery. There was an exhibition of Elizabeth Taylor’s outfits and jewels, an exhibition of masterpieces by Rembrandt, Matisse, Picasso, Dali and Richter, as well as Christie's exhibition celebrating 20 years of its presence in Russia – more than 20 events in total, featuring at least 100 works of art, whose total value exceeds $ 200,000,000.
Apart from providing organizational support for the House's projects, WONDERLOFT is also responsible for fundraising support of the events, which makes it possible for Christie’s to share its best auction items with Russian audience and carry out ambitious plans.
We approach every project we are entrusted by the House with great reverence and we are sincerely grateful for the possibility to get to know the world of art even better.
